Buffalo Wild Wings:
(chain)
One of the newest restaurant/clubs in town. Ya order at the counter when you walk in, then wave a little electronic device when it signals you that your food is ready. I know this must cut down on the cost somehow, but I am not crazy about the system. Lots of munchie-type stuff. Wings that will put hair on your tongue and burn your chest, or something like that. Large capacity room with lots o' tvs. Pretty high noise level. Live music on occasion.
3 Churchill Street. Ph 601.288.7777

Copeland's: (chain)
Copeland's is a New Orleans-style, upscale restaurant and bar. They have live acoustic music occasionally, but the food is the star of the show.

Good Karma Cafe (McComb):
A fairly new, small restaurant that is the alternative to just about everything in this area. We offer food, coffee, beers, atmosphere and music that you can't get anywhere else close to here. Last December they began having live music, which range from folk, bluegrass, indie, acoustic all the way through rock, hardcore/punk, ska. They claim to do anything but new country, which until the cafe was the only thing you could hear in town.

The Green Room:
This venue, located at the Ramada Inn north of town on Hwy 49, has tons of pool tables, and the competition is fierce. Blues Night is Wednesday; there's a pool tournament every Thursday. They have live bands on weekend--cover is generally $5.

Keg and Barrel:
Located near Downtown in what used to be a house, this cozy bar is one of the newest in Hattiesburg. Small bands, acoustic groups. Many beers on tap, appetizers served. Now open for lunch.
1315 Hardy Street. Call 601.582-7148.

The Mahogany Bar:
Informally known as "The Hog," the Mahogany Bar is one of Hattiesburg's most popular after-work stops. The Hog is in the same building as two of Hattiesburg's best known restaurants, The Purple Parrot (quite pricey, but worth it) and Crescent City (moderately priced, with a New Orleans theme). There's a small courtyard with heat lamps for chilly evenings. Patrons range from college students to lawyers, and it can be crowded as hell. Free red beans and rice on Monday night during football season, while you watch the game on The Hog's big screen television.
